El Poopte Around El Subte

I love public transportation. Why, you ask? Because it is always the same, and yet never the same. Each time you take the bus or the subte (subway), it follows the same route and makes the same stops, and yet each time is a completely new adventure. It's a little dirty (hence the title of this entry), but I love it still.

On our second day EVER in Buenos Aires, Valerie and I were turned loose in the city to try and make it to the church building. No problem, right? We went there last night and were given verbal directions. We made it to the Subte station (even ordered food on the way in a cafe successfully) with no problem. However, we boarded the wrong train. Again, not a huge deal. We looked at the subway map on the train, got off at the next stop, and switched trains. No big deal. We got off at the stop to get to Caballito Iglesia de Cristo and everything went downhill. Instead of taking Avenida Rojas, we took Avenida Barco de Centenera for about a mile. We found a McDonald's, bought a couple of scarves, and saw some dancers on the street. When this street dead ended, we realized our mistake, turned around, and walked the mile back to the station (for a total of 2 miles out of the way). Once we got on the right street, we found the church in no time. While we felt bad about being a little late to the church, we enjoyed our little adventure and were excited to see more of the city!

Basically, things here are wonderful! We met some of the youth group members last night at a meeting! They are all so nice and Valerie and I are excited about spending more time with them. Today, we helped sort some clothes for the church to give out, and we are having a Let's Start Talking Bible study tonight. We have lots of plans for tomorrow, so they're keeping us busy here!

More to come...love you all!
